After the success of its recent Digital Summit, ArabNet is currently looking to grow its team with talented energetic individuals who are passionate about digital business. All vacancies except for Writers and Managing Editor must be based in Beirut, Lebanon.  

Since its inception in 2010, ArabNet has thrived to be a catalyst for the online revolution in the region and a motivator for the local entrepreneurial scene to step up and expand its boundaries. New Positions

Speaker and Entrepreneur Relations Coordinator (Entry Level:  0 – 1 years of experience): The Speaker and Entrepreneur Relations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day communications with speakers and entrepreneurs for ArabNet’s conferences, activities and database.  This is a unique opportunity to get a high-level view of the major trends in the digital sector, and a broad understanding of the movers and shakers who are shaping the web and mobile industry across the region.  It is also a chance to connect with the most promising entrepreneurs and startups who are poised to be the digital giants of the future.  

On the Entrepreneur relations side, this involves managing the ArabNet Startup Database and supporting with the Startup Demo and Ideathon competitions for ArabNet conferences: promoting the competitions and getting entrepreneurs to apply, helping entrepreneurs improve their applications, responding to questions, coordinating communication with judges, etc. 

On the speaker relations side this involves researching new potential speakers and staying up-to-date on the hottest topics, maintaining organized documentation of the status for different speakers, following up with them directly as required, and assisting in managing speakers during the event.

This role reports to the Entrepreneur & Speaker Relations Manager.
Fluent in English, Arabic fluency is a plus.

Responsibilities:
  • Managing ArabNet Startup Database
  • Communication for Startup Demo and Ideathon competitions
  • Day-to-day follow up on speakers
  • Research and market awareness
  • Key role in coordinating competitions and speakers at ArabNet events
Ideal candidate would be/have:

Partner Relations Manager: Negotiating and managing relationships with media and supporting partners, including top regional corporations and non-profits with an interest in digital business and entrepreneurship.  Strong project management and negotiation skills.  Understanding of media buying and rate cards a plus.

Developer Community Coordinator: Help build and manage the Arab developers community through a variety of activities geared towards connecting developers with each other and with ArabNet (Newsletters, Ambassador Programs, Event Planning, etc.). Applicants should have:

  • At least 1 year of experience in developing web or mobile apps
  • Passion for community management and executing engagement strategies
  • Fluent Reading/Writing in Arabic and English
  • Applicants should also be comfortable with:
    • Writing articles, template blog posts, newsletters
    • Social Media Mediums: Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus (+1 for enthusiasts of Reddit, HackerNews or Slashdot)
  • Experience in communications, customer experience or managing/creating ambassador programs is a PLUS. 
  • Please submit a 200-word writing sample in Arabic on what you think the problem is the Arab developers community (if there is a problem)

Social Media Intern: We are looking for a social media intern with passion for digital /technology  to support our community manager across our different platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn. This is a unique opportunity to learn how to create an active and vibrant community.

Positions Still Open

Head of Communications: Managing communication plan and supervising implementation of ads to ensure quality.  Responsible for approving above-the-line ads (TV, radio, print) and below-the-line materials (posters, flyers, email campaigns, giveaways, event-related documents).  Responsible for PR strategy, including supervising press releases and media interviews and managing relationship with PR agencies when needed.  Also responsible for overseeing social media activities and ensuring alignment with overall communication strategy.  One senior role, must have a passion for and understanding of digital media and at least 5-7 years of experience in communications / advertising. 

Managing Editor: Managing editorial calendar for ArabNet portal, managing writers and editing to ensure high quality content, leading marketing strategy to drive traffic and monetization.  One senior role, must have a passion for and understanding of digital media and at least 3-5 years of experience in journalism / media.  Does not have to be based in Beirut.

Copywriters (English & Arabic) with strong language skills and an understanding of marketing / advertising language, and a passion for digital / technology.  Generally looking for juniors (1-3 years of experience) with some experience.
