DesignHub.me: A simplified approach to recruitment

DesignHub.me is a promotional directory for designers and visual creatives in the Middle East. The idea behind the site came to life when co-founders Nabil Abu-Shaheen and Rami Obeid were looking for a designer but couldn’t easily connect with someone nearby and what ensued was a simplified and more efficient approach to recruitment.

Designed by Rami Obeid and developed by Excite Interactive, DesignHub features graphic, web and interior designers and architects in a simple tiles format that shows a sample of the artist’s work and price range. The site offers a paid “pro” listing with bigger tiles that feature more work in addition to smaller sized free tiles. The smaller tiles are sure to attract freelance designers while the pro listing should attract design firms with bigger marketing budgets, stated Nabil Abu-Shaheen. DesignHub will also promote users through targeted ads online.

Job sites and networks have been proliferating in the region lately with Basharjobs.com, Fursa.me, and Tasmeemme.com as examples of local startups tackling online recruitment. But according to Nabil, DesignHub’s edge stems from its clean simple ad free design and ease of use. DesignHub does not interfere in the sign up process and does not act as an intermediary between potential employer and employee. Interested employers can find the contact information straight from the artist’s profile.

The site launched in public beta last Wednesday in English with the Arabic version coming within weeks and the full launch expected in around 6 months.
