Defined as a “user-generated, categorized, instant chat room engine” by its co-founder Jawdat Shammas, Sa7.at aims to promote Arabic content on the web by enabling users to create quality discussion rooms easily and free of charge.

Users can create and manage chat rooms “in less than a minute” around specific topics of interest, events, news, geo specific communities or educational discussions. Administrators have complete control of the chat rooms that they've created where they can invite people via Facebook and Twitter, silence or ban members to maintain the quality of the discussion, and password protect rooms to keep certain discussions private.
