7 Hollywood Celebrity Apps You Should Try

Hollywood and MTV celebrities have become highly engaged in the digital business revolution. Here are some of the most successful and popular apps out there, with celebrities leading the way like Kim Kardashian, to Tom Hanks, The Rock, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Snoop Dogg, and Kate Boswroth. Check out the apps and their videos:

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood

“Hollywood! Create your own aspiring celebrity and rise to fame and fortune!” This is the grabber headline that Google Play and the App Store had posted to introduce the app Kim Kardashian released on June 2nd. If you’ve ever dreamed or fantasized of stardom and living the high life, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood promises to make your dreams come true.

The fastest growing application online (at least it was before being outsold by Tom Hank’s Typewriter App). Users get to create a customized look of the star they would like to be (choosing every detail from the nose type to outfit style), experience interactive adventures and love encounters with other celebrities, take over exclusive clubs and high-profile hangout places in LA and “use their charms” wisely to tack life’s tough situations on the road to stardom. All of these activities need “energy” of course, which is how the App makes money, by selling energy to do more in the game. Advertised by a 1-hour-long video on YouTube, the game has more than 5 million users-and counting, and it makes $700,000 per day. Not kidding.

Tom Hanks: Hanx Typewriter

Following Kim Kardashian’s success, actor Tom Hanks partnered with gaming company Hitcents.com to create a surprisingly simple concept for an app: Typewriting. Launched last week, Hanx Writer app recreates the the clickety-clack sounds, jerky movements and typeface of the old-school typewriter but couples it with the ease and speed of an iPad. The combination creates a nostalgic throwback to the golden age of typewriters- and with immense success, Hanx writer beat out bigger names including Skype for iPad, YouTube, Netflix and even managed to dethrone the revered Kardashian game, becoming the No. 1 iPad app in the iTunes store in just 4 days. Designed for taking notes, journal entries and even love letters — the app provides an onscreen keyboard that can also be paired with a Bluetooth keyboard, where the users can imagine they are not typing on plastic keys. The app is also available on Android.

The Rock: WWE Rockalypse

“It isn't the end of the world until The Great One says it is.” This WWE (world wrestling entertainment) app is in some ways a nostalgic throw-back to the old days of boyish 3D-wrestling games- only it’s not a wrestling game, but a one-on-one fighting game where the user heroically plays “The Rock” character, taking on numerous assailants in the back lot of a Hollywood Studio. A tough, street-smart movie star, The Rock has to fight his way through the studio, as it seems that everyone else has gone murderously psychotic and he’s the only soldier left standing. The fighting controls are simple enough, where left-to-right and up-to-down swipes allow you to throw a haymaker or block a punch and dodge your opponent. The game runs on coins that The Rock finds or earns by defeating opponents.  Coins are then used to purchase new gear for the Rock, or, more importantly to purchase skills the user needs to progress through the 24 levels of the game. The game has managed to reach the 500,000-1 million installs on the Google Play Store , and has recently become available on iOS.

Taylor Swift: Greeting cards

Released on last year’s Valentine occasion, the app is perfect for people who are too busy to “let the people in their life know they are AMAZING, with a greeting card…” The app offers  13 of the best Taylor Swift greeting cards for all  13 different occasion, including birthdays, friendships, “Miss you”, “just because” and others. Basically, users can use this neat little Android and iOS app to quickly design a greeting card for any occasion and get the guilt off their shoulders, and then quickly send it to that significant other with their own signature on Email, Facebook, Text Message and Twitter.

Lady Gaga: Artpop

If you’re one of pop diva Lady Gaga’s little monsters, you’ll definitely know what we’re talking about here. Released in honor of Gaga’s record-breaking album, Artpop, the Diva has collaborated with Relative Wave to release this musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion, and technology, along with "the auras", a new interactive worldwide community.  Gaga’s little monsters can communicate with each other while exploring the album’s songs- if they haven’t done that already- create their own aura with the help of a glowing, virtual character named Petga, create gaga-inspired GIFs via the “ArtHaus” section  GIFs to communicate through visuals. Released in November 2013, the app has so far received 10,000-50,000 installs on Google Play — an iOS version is also available. This is the explanatory video of the App:

Snoop Dogg: Snoopify

An early advocate of the power of digital, Snoop Dogg(aka Snoop Lion),  was riding the photo-sharing bandwagon since early 2013, when he collaborated with retailer Upper Playground, and developer 99centbrains to the Snoopify Sticker Camera, a magic app the “snoopifies” users’ photos (meaning it turns them into Snoop-themed masterpieces.) Users can do so by purchasing classic Snoop Dogg stickers and Rasta-inspired Snoop Lion looks (hoods, abs, stickyicky Packs..) to get the cool Snoop look. Don’t underrate the “Snoopy” effect, as the rapper was able to sell “virtual” $99.99 spliffs on his app, and get 3 million fans to download it since its release, reaching an income of $30,000 a month. The app is available on iOS and Android.

Kate Boswroth: Style Thief

“You'll never have to ask yourself 'What is she wearing?' or 'Where did he buy that?' anymore - just upload the photo to Style Thief and our cutting-edge, unique photo engine will do the rest!” This is what actress-turned-entrepreneur Kate Bosworth promises fashionistas.

A wardrobe-friendly app that allows fashionistas to “snap and steal” someone’s clothing item by taking a photo of it and having the app do an image search online and trace the item. Style Thief features a simple, user-friendly design that allows users to take a picture from virtually any source—a stranger walking down the street, a rack in a store, the pages of a magazine or even online—and then browse the same items and buy them online. “Everyone has fashion envy” says Bosworth, who, along with partner Samantha Russ, launched the app since last November, with several improved versions, the last being this past July. The app is currently only on iOS , though an Android version is coming soon.
