Mobily Ventures Launches AND Invests in 2 Big Startups
Share this article

Mobily is launching its powerful investing arm "Mobily Ventures" with the goal of supporting high-growth technology startups in the MENA through their investments and synergies. Startups will then have access to their resources, channels, and valuable information — especially on the anatomy of different markets, and the adaptation of new products and services to different customers.

Mobily Ventures' are looking for startups who have already raised their first round of funding, and are now seeking Series A funding in the growth stage with an investment size of 300,000 USD to 3 million USD.

Already they have invested in Easy Taxi and Anghami: Easy Taxi is a Dubai based taxi app similar to the likes of Uber and Careem, and have previously received an investment from iMENA – while Anghami is a Lebanon based music app that allows people to download and listen to millions of Arabic and international songs, and had also received an investment from MEVP in the past as well.

This shows Mobily has flexibility when dealing with other investors, and there are a couple more investments in the works that Mobily Ventures haven’t yet announced.

When it comes to how much equity they ask for in return for each investment, they don’t have a specific number that they abide by, since each startup and market situation are different, and deserve separate deals.

How to Apply for a Mobily Ventures Investment:

Make sure you’re looking for Series A investment, NOT seed funding, and that your business has reached some level of maturity with a tested business model, and a product-market fit.

Make sure to mention essential criteria like revenue, costs, valuation of the market size, customer channels, basically what constitutes your business model... Mobily Ventures will be excited to meet startups with a realistic market approach and an innovative business plan. Check out their website to see the outline for a funding application.

"We are very interested in startups in the fields of eCommerce and retail innovation, mobile financial services and digital payment, digital advertising and data monetization, as well as digital media and entertainment." says Daniel dos Reis Director at Mobily
