During the weekend of March 1st through March 3rd, StartUp Weekend Byblos will set the stage for 100 tech savvy participants to form teams, pitch their ideas and turn them into viable businesses, all of that in addition to a chance to win $10,000 worth of prizes in the process.

Anyone is welcome to pitch. Teams organically form around the top ideas which are determined by popular vote, followed by a 54 hours of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekend concludes with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial and a final dose of critical feedback.

“These events give young people the opportunity to test drive the world of being a designer, developer, driver, entrepreneur and drills their skill as individuals and ability to work as a team, and ultimately to communicate their developed idea to a jury at the end of the weekend,” according to Simon Tadros, Organizer of the event.

The event will take place at the American University Of Technology (AUT) in Byblos, in an effort to "break away from centralization" and inject entrepreneurial spirit and innovation into the region.

The theme of the event is ‘Dare to Imagine' explains Simon, who's a programmer and an evangelist of Open Source. “To dare is actually to have the courage to imagine, to have the courage to take action and follow though on the intentions and actions and make something happen. This is why I am an entrepreneur.”
