Technology Incubator Badir recently announced the 3 winners of this year’s Startup Weekend Riyadh during a ceremony which took place at the Novotel Hotel in Riyadh attended by a large gathering of young entrepreneurs and techies.

Startup Weekend is a program designed to interact with the young talented individuals from different backgrounds with the aim of helping them build distinguished tech projects. Over the course of 54 hours, designers, developers and entrepreneurs work together and develop ideas into projects. During the program, participants are provide guidance and direction by mentors from different areas while renowned speakers share their experiences with them and evaluate their projects.

Dozens of young men and women with creative ideas participated in this year’s edition which took place from Jan. 29 until the 1st of Feb. Attendees actively evaluated the ideas by using stickers to vote for their favorite projects. Eventually the organizers settled on 16 projects, which required the owner of the idea to ​​gather a team from the attendance and come up with a prototype and present it in front of the jury within 54 hours.

And the winners are:

1st place: واحد - صفر  by Nawaf al Ghamdi

A cross platform service that allows users to predict sports results and analyze games. The project was awarded 30000 Saudi Riyals.

2nd place: عبقر by Marwan Almuraisy

A multi platform service that tests users’ wit with a series of fast paced puzzles and brain teasers that require lateral thinking instead of conventional culture and trivia questions. The project was awarded 20000 Saudi Riyals.

3rd place: علّمني by Dima al Iwani

A multi platform service that allows users to teach other individuals using video. The project was awarded 10000 Saudi Riyals.
