Amanda Turnbull is VP and Country Manager for Discovery Networks in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), part of Discovery Networks Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA), a division of Discovery Communications. Amanda is responsible for the strategic development and operational management of Discovery’s portfolio of 13 channels (11 Pay-TV and 2 FTA) and digital brands in MENA, and is tasked with ensuring long term growth for Discovery’s business while maximizing multiplatform revenues. She has over 25 years’ experience in the media industry.
Ambareen Musa worked for GE Money and led the first online financial literacy initiative in the UK, Moneybasics.co.uk. She set up the consulting arm of MasterCard Middle East and Africa, before founding Souqalmal.com, number one financial comparison and insurance platform in UAE and KSA. Amjad Ahmad is a veteran venture capital and private equity investor with an extensive track record of leading successful investments in emerging markets. He has invested in 30 companies across the MENA region primarily in the technology and consumer sectors. Amjad earned a Masters from Columbia University and is a General Management Program graduate from Harvard Business School.
Arwa Shafi is the New Ventures Associate at King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST) where she co-leads the Taqadam Entrepreneur University. She has also founded the Agents of Innovation program, an exclusive apprenticeship for selected high potential students from partner universities. Since joining Twitter in 2012, Ampen has launched the company's sales activities in France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. Prior to that, he worked at Google for four years, where he spent his last years spearheading the business development team across the UK and EMEA region. Emre Ekmekçi is the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Hepsiburada.com, Turkey’s leading multi-category e-commerce platform. Previously he served as the President, Business Development at Doğan Online Group Companies. Founded in 1999, Doğan Online Group consists of the leading e-commerce and betting businesses in Turkey with brands such as HepsiBurada.com, Nesine.com, Evmanya.com and 6cadde.com. His team is tasked with new venture identification and continuous improvement within the group. Prior to Doğan Online, in partnership with European Founders Fund and Rocket Internet, Emre pioneered the daily deal business in Turkey, by launching Groupon's Turkish operations and its local Turkish brand Sehirfirsati.com, making it a market leader company in less than 18 months. Emre has global experience in Interactive Marketing having served for 8 years at a leading full-service agency in Los Angeles, California with focus on global business development and has worked on location in Los Angeles, Chicago, Hong Kong, Shanghai, London and Paris. Fady Yacoub is a Co-founder and Managing Partner at HOF Capital, where he focuses on blockchain, education, media and energy. Kyrgyz entrepreneur Ulugbek Yuldashev is the founder and CEO of AWOK.com, one of the leading online retail platforms in the UAE, offering over 50,000 products across 30+ categories, and employs close to 500 people.
